Truckstop Photos

These are some photos I took yesterday. The first one shows the view from the side that faces the highway. I took this picture so you could see the trucks and that cool looking brick building in the back. The trucks and the 4-wheelers park on opposite sides of the main building. According to the Petro website, this truckstop has 380 truck parking spaces. I don't know if this is true- I haven't tried to count them- but there are quite a few. The next picture shows a truck on the scale. Most freight haulers get weighed to make sure they aren't over the legal limits.

The next picture shows the repair shop, which has 6 bays. I went there last Monday to get some brake pads replaced on the trailer. I was surprised how quickly the work was done. There's usually a long wait for repairs because of the number of trucks that need work done.

The last picture shows our truck parked between two other Freightliners. Karen calls it "Snoopy". Other stats on this truckstop:

12 fuel lanes
21 showers
1 truck wash
plus (directly from the website):

• All Major Credit Cards
• AT&T Telephones
• ATM / Check Cashing
• Barber Shop
• Building Security
• Copy / Fax Service
• DAT Load Monitors
• Derby Owners Club (a Multi-player horse racing game)
• Driver Movie Theater
• Drop Boxes: UPS/FedEx/TripPak
• Internet Kiosks
• Interstate Connections
• Iron Skillet (restaurant)
• Laundry Room
• Noble Roman's Pizza
• Petro Filling Station
• Snack / Coffee Bar
• Tastee Freez
• Travel Store
• TripPak Scanning
• Truckers Chapel
• Video Arcade

The showers here are pretty big. The single-person shower is bigger than some "double" showers. Also, there's not an actual chapel here. Services are held in the Movie theater. The "Interstate Connections" is a service in the lobby that provides all sorts of electronic stuff, from cell phones to satellite TV to XM radio. There's a couple other services that aren't listed. One is a small CB shop, which doesn't interest us because I don't like using CB radios. The other is an automatic embroidery service that embroiders hats and shirts using a cool computerized, multi-spool sewing machine. As you can tell, life at a truck stop is a lot nicer than it was in the old days.
